    Benefits of Vegetarianism

Seriously, it's ridiculous. Sometimes I think someone sits around making this stuff up because they feel guilty for eating meat, or something. I have no problem with people who do (my boyfriend is a hardcore carnivore) I just personally find I am infinitely healthier without. I also wanted to...

    Painting?

I've been looking into starting a first candle making project. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing (I realize I need to read through this forum a bit to help me out). I was hoping to make cute easter candles for the kids, but I was wondering if it's possible to paint these, or will it not...

    Huge directory of herbs!

I was looking for a general site with a lot of information on various herbs and their potential uses in medicine. I wanted to have everything in one spot. Though I have an herbal medicine book for cats and dogs, for some reason I never invested in one for people. Anyway, I found this site. It...

Dealing with an irregular work schedule

Thanks for the advice. Very practical. I know I can't do this for a long time, but I need to be able to pay for school, I owe my dad money for bailing me out on rent one time, and I'm looking to move again within the next 6 months. I want to have a fair bit of money saved up for that so I don't...

    Razor bumps

Seriously? Antiperspirant for razor bumps? Can you give me some more info on this, such as whether there are certain types I should avoid? The last thing I need is extra inflammation or an allergic reaction.

    New kitten, any advice?

Don't use pine as it is known to cause respiratory issues (in humans as well). Yesterday's News (unscented) is a recycled newspaper litter you can use, though the odor control is not very good. Never use a clumping litter for kittens. Many people don't know that the dust gathers on their fur...

    Birth Control

Why are you looking to switch? Are certain symptoms unbearable? I've heard very good things about Alesse, which is a low-dose estrogen pill with intent to reduce negative side effects - especially weight gain. This is the one I plan on starting. My friend has been on it for months and has...

Alternitives to hand sanitizer while on the go

I found this recipe: How to Make a Natural Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer | eHow.com It does include alcohol but avoids the issue of bacteria becoming resistant that you find with regular hand sanitizers. The essential oils might help reduce the skin drying effect. Alternatively you can use a...

Dealing with an irregular work schedule

So currently, I'm working 3 part time jobs, one with hours into the high end of that considering "part time". In addition I'm in college. On top of all this, one of my jobs requires me to work some irregular shifts. Some days I start at 5am (so I have to be up before 4 to run the dogs and...

    Finally saying hi

So I'm a 22 (on the 29th) year old female living in Canada. I first became interested in health and alternative medicine when I was 14, though it wasn't until recent years that I began actively researching and incorporating a lot of herbs etc into my life. Nutrition and physical fitness has...

    Speed healing

Thanks for the epsom salt idea! I usually have this on hand for baths anyway, but I had no idea it's beneficial to the healing process. I love epsom baths so that's perfect for me.

    Benefits of Vegetarianism

I gave up meat when I was 14. I got very ill for a while until I added in a weekly or bi-weekly serving of fish, which seemed to clear up all the issues I'd been having. I'm turning 22 this month - I have remained vegetarian all this time and felt amazing doing it (much better than when I was...

    Peaches

Yum, I love peaches! I find they're kind of hit or miss though. I like when they're pretty soft and sweet, but sometimes a few out of the batch are oddly crunchy. Maybe just unripe? I'm buying myself some peaches. Papaya is great too, helpful with digestion.

    Razor bumps

Wow, why don't you use shaving cream? Razor burn is brutal. You can use baby oil or hair conditioner instead if you don't want to use the cream for whatever reason! wanderingherb - thanks! I tried the coconut oil and the chamomile tea bag and saw improvement within a few hours. Perfect.

    Speed healing

I get all my vitamins from Vega and green smoothies in addition to extra calcium supplements to help heal my bones. Wanderingherb, the Calendula and St.Johns Wort oil, is this commonly found in homeopathic stores? That sounds great and like it would be very helpful.

Coffee - Is it now good for you?

I've also heard that a cup of coffee a day (and no more) is actually beneficial though I can't remember what the claims were, specifically. However I don't put much stock in it because they seem to continuously go back and forth between it being good and bad which kind of kills the credibility...

    Speed healing

Does anyone know of any herbs that might help speed healing? I mean cuts, bruises, fractures. I'm rather injury prone and for whatever reason I take a long time to heal. I know I can use Polysporin for the cuts but I prefer to avoid anything like that whenever possible (I don't even use Advil).

    Razor bumps

Chamomile you say? So if I make some chamomile tea, let the bag cool, and apply it as a compress that should help? Thanks for your suggestions! If olive oil works, might coconut oil do the same? In regards to your other comment, let me add that when I have the money I get a Brazilian wax...

    Question about stress fractures

wanderingherb, that's why I'm off running...I sure don't want to do any permanent damage, and of course I want to be back to my regular routine as soon as possible (hence the not running). Unless that was in regards to my admission that I did a burst of running when I shouldn't have, but I...

    Razor bumps

Does anyone know of an herb or other natural remedy that can be applied to help with razor bumps...down there? I don't usually get them but I guess I was rushing, and it's driving me crazy now.
