Using my timer to force the exercise

I'm on a kick at last. I set my timer by my computer for an hour. At the end of the hour, I reset it for twenty minutes. During those 20 minutes I have to walk, do sit-ups, leg lifts, various exercises, get water and take a quick trip to the bathroom before I can get back on my computer. So far...

    Lethargy and staying inside

It's winter again, and the tendency is to stay indoors. So we're not getting enough sunlight and the old Vitamin D worries kick in. I've started taking over-the-counter Vitamin D and hope it kicks in soon. I'm really lethargic lately.

    Fish oil or krill?

I've long read about the benefits of fish oil. I've read more recently that taking krill oil is even better. So which should I go with? How do others decide?

    Air filtering system

I just noticed that the filters in my air and heating units seem to need changing more frequently. What is the recommended time most people go by? I've been changing them every two to three months.

    Chocolate and acid reflux

I love chocolate more than any other food. Unfortunately, if I eat it, my acid reflux is going to be downright painful. I've stopped eating even a little of it. It's in the house right now, with Halloween and all. It's so hard to resist.

    Herb cozies

About ten years ago, I purchased a homemade pillow filled with some kind of beans or peas and all sorts of soothing herbs, including menthol. It was sold at a crafts fair in a big city near here. You could pop it into the microwave for a minute or so and then put it around your neck. It felt...

    Water and the skin

I have a friend who had to have a medical procedure where she was really dehydrated before going to sleep. I was with her and we both noticed how wrinkled and shriveled her skin was. The next day, after drinking plenty of water, her skin looked thirty years younger. The importance of water to...

    Herbs that soothe the esophagus

This sounds worse than it is, so I'm giving fair warning. I just had to have my esophagus stretched because I was having trouble swallowing. The doctor says this happens sometimes as we age. Now my throat is really sensitive. Are there specific herbs that might help in the healing process? Right...

Getting ready for the big storm

I'm worried about the people in the mid-Atlantic and northern states. This storm coming up this week sounds really ominous. How are others preparing? I live just south of where it's supposed to be bad, but I have enough storm memories to really be worried about adding cold and snow to the mix.

    Peel or wash?

I have read that apples carry some of the most residue from pesticides and other toxins. I always wash my apples, but I rarely use soap or special cleaners. Still, I'm afraid of ingesting too many toxins. I have started peeling the apples instead. What method is safest? I know we need apples in...

    State flowers and herbs?

I was thinking the other day about state flowers. I know California has its Golden Poppy. Our state, North Carolina, has chosen a tree, the dogwood, as its state flower. I wonder if any states have herbs as their state flowers? Does your state?

    Christmas gifts

I would love to try making some soap for Christmas gifts this year. Is it worth the effort, or does it cost just as much to get started as buying nice homemade soaps to start with?
