    St Johns Wort

Yes, it works for men too. Has he tested you for hypothyroidism and other things. They can manifest as depression as well. Has the doctor checked for these?

    Acupuncture helps women find balance

My mother used to swear by acupuncture for her arthritis and back pain. We had to travel 5 hours to get to the doctor that did it but she says it was worth it. The doctor she used is now out of business but I would love to find someone.

    Creamy white discharge

That could be smellsrfun but you really don't know if it's an infection or not. I had a dog who had an infection in her uterus and we thought she was with pups. It wasn't until too late when she was almost gone and we found her on the doorstep that we realized how sick she was. Dogs are masters...

    pharmaceuticals vs. Herbs

I would rather use herbal medications. I find the idea of putting chemicals in my body to be distasteful to me. I would rather find a natural way to deal with my health problems.

    Pumpkin seeds

Soak them in strong salt water before you bake them to get them salted before you bake them. They are one of my favorite treats at any time of the year. They will go rancid too, so if you have a bunch you may want to either vacuum seal or freeze them.

Does Tea Tree Oil Go Bad?

Do you know if tea tree oil spoils or becomes rancid if you've had it for a while? I have had some for quite a while and it smells different. Should I throw it away or is it still OK to use even if it smells different?

    Migraine

Sounds like she found something that would help her. For some reason the smell of onions cooking or even sliced will induce a headache (not a migraine) in me. I love onions but it seems my body doesn't do well with it.

How long does it take to make soap?

If you use the lye method, make sure you have adequate ventilation. It does give off some really strong fumes. My mother used to make it and it's not really hard it's just that we've forgotten how to do it. People used to make their own all of the time it's just that we have gotten used to going...

    Fleas again!

The use of canning salt does work. I've done it before. You can even put it under the couch cushions and down in the couch. It doesn't hurt it and you can sweep it up after about 7 days. That should be enough time for the fleas to go through a full cycle from egg to flea.

    Urinary Tract Infection

Rainytigermouth! Thanks for that recommendation. My wife has a horrible time with urinary tract infections and has always had to try to drink water and cranberry juice. I did see the tablets that have a numbing effect on the bladder and it's the same thing the doctor used to give her in a...

    Drying Sage

I know that much of sage we buy in the stores is the rubbed sage which has been processed to a fine powder like consistency. But I have some that I grew in the garden this summer and I was wondering how I would dry it and process it for use. Do I try to pound it into a fine powder after it's dried?

    Lye Soap-Granny's Cure All

Well, Granny used to tell me the lye was "out of" the soap by the time you got to the soap stage so I guess it's gone. I love the scent of the soap even with nothing in it. It seems like it smells so clean to me.

    Lye Soap-Granny's Cure All

My grandmother used to use lye soap for everything. She would use it to bathe use after we were in weeds to make sure we didn't break out with poison ivy, she would use it on scratches saying if we cleaned them that way they wouldn't get infected. She also used it on us to make sure we didn't...

    Ticks

Thanks guys. These are the tiniest ticks I've ever seen. If they get the dog ticks, it's easy to get those off but the little ones are super hard to remove. I've been experimenting using petroleum jelly to completely cover the nasty things and it seems to work. They let go pretty quick. The...

    Arthritis in Dogs

Thanks Lauraabbe! I think I'll try that with her. She has such a hard time getting around and I know she has a lot of pain then. The nights getting colder and wetter don't help any either. I wonder if I have a heating pad I can set on low for her would help?

    Mid afternoon slump

Yes, I do the same thing. I think my blood sugar has a dip at that time. I usually wind up getting a snack and a cup of coffee. The coffee isn't a good thing but it does help me to get through the slump.

    Ticks

We live in the middle of a national forest and we have some rather heavily wooded areas. Our cats are indoor/outdoor because there is nothing here to hurt them since we are so far from the road. But, they do get a lot of deer ticks on themselves. What is the best way to remove these little...

    Procrastination

If you plan out your day ahead of time, you will be less apt to procrastinate. Of course the best of us do procrastinate at times, especially if it's something we dread doing.

    Continuing Ear Infections

My granddaughter continues to get ear infections time after time. I am really concerned they give her antibiotics again and again. My daughter gives her yogurt to counteract some of the side effects of the antibiotics but it can't be good to be on antibiotics every 6 weeks or so. Any suggestions?

    Page about Natural Remedies

I appreciate the information. There are a lot of things our ancestors used for illnesses. Not all of them worked but there were enough that we should have a treatment for just about everything.
