    Herniated Discs

Acupunture for back pain I had a friend whose husband went to an acupuncturist after trying everything else for his back pain. I'm not not sure precisely what the problem was, but he swears by his acupuncturist these days. His pain is significantly less.

    Itching

I know when my skin gets really dry, it itches so much I sometimes break out in a rash on my back. That's when I pull out the Nivea oil and use a little in my bath to get the areas I can't reach. It does help me.

    Sandal ready feet

You are right about sandal wearing being right around the corner. We're supposed to have a really pretty week, so I just may try your recipe and start getting my rough feet into shape. Mine even need some work before going for a pedicure, I'm afraid.

    Cleaning black off the glass

I burn candles all the time in my bathroom. I have one vase I really love, but the top of the rim stays black from all the burning. Is there someway other than to wash it continually to keep the black from forming?

    Cumin and chili powder

I had to make 50 quarts of chili and beans for our church's annual casserole and soup sale this week. I paid $2.00 for each small container of chili powder and $5.00 for ground cumin in the same size. What is the most economical way to buy these spices for next year when I do this again? I...

    Sore Knees

Knee problems A doctor can do a quick couple of pictures and tell you want it is, most likely. I was having some knee issues, and he quickly told me what it was. He also reassured me that it would get better over time if I used it. It did.

    pay attention

I think we subconsciously think that if we ignore it, it will go away. I'm afraid I'm a bit like that. I know better, but still I put it off and put it off, unless it's my family member or a good friend. When it's myself, it's different.

    Pizza for the grandkids

We picked up the grandchildren after school today and took them to have dinner at their favorite place. Of course, it was a pizza buffet. I'm trying my best to justify the calories, the grease and the toppings on what they eat. I'm feeling guilty, but they had a ball. They're going to bed having...

    Some people

It really is sad when people who want to work can't find a job where they can work and earn enough money to support their families. I'm hoping things will improve, but who knows what it's going to take?

    Essential oils instead of tranquilizers

Carolynn, that is such a clever way of helping your children get a good night's sleep. It's bound to help you, too, as you breathe in the fragrances from children and lavender.

    White vinegar

We were at a retreat not long ago, and one of the guys there says that about once a month he sprays himself down all over with white vinegar. He swears that it kills bacteria in the skin. He waits for about ten minutes and then takes a hot shower. Has anyone else ever heard of doing this?

    Steam Treatments

I've always used rose hip, with steam, whether it's been in a bath, a steam closet or over a pan of hot water. It really does leave me feeling cleaner than with a normal hot shower or bath.

    Organic ginger teas

I've never heard of the ginger candy before. I'll have to look out for it. We did purchase some organic ginger ale recently. My husband is trying it, but he has yet to weigh in on whether he's telling a difference or not.

    Listening To Nature Sounds

I love the sounds of thunderstorms. We had a real one last night, and it was such good sleep. If I'd only known about the dangerous winds that were coming through, I might have changed my mind. I was actually dreaming I was in a thunderstorm.

    Sanitizing Your Toorthbrush

I read recently that it's okay to put toothbrushes in the dishwasher, although I've never done so. Toothbrushes are so inexpensive that I just replace them. I just purchased a new Phillips electric toothbrush, so I guess that will change the game plan.

    Dryers vs Paper Towels

I've about decided to start carrying my own paper towels around with me when I am traveling. You never can count on cleanliness, supplies or other amenities we used to take for granted.

    GMO foods

I am also scared of genetically altered foods of any kind. I don't care how they claim to be improving it, nothing beats eating what and how nature intended us to eat. Added hormones and preservatives do little compared to the harm they might cause.

    Organic ginger teas

I just purchased a box of organic ginger tea. My husband has been having really bad indigestion for a year now, and nothing has worked. I read here about teas, so I'm going to start testing it. This one has specific directions and suggests drinking it 3 times a day, once before each meal to...

    Headache tip

I haven't heard of this headache remedy, but I'll be sure to try it the next time I get one of those headaches. I get them when I'm driving long distances. I think it's a combination of sunlight and not being able to rest my eyes.

    Massage pressure too light/too rough

The first massage I ever had was exquisite. It was done in Washington, D.C. when my cousin entertained her bridesmaids with an evening of pampering after high tea at the Hay Adams. It was so good we booked another one a year later. I came out of that unable to move for a week. I've never wanted...
