    Hawaiian scents

When I was young, a man who stayed in the hospital where I was working as a candy striper gave me a little package filled with various Hawaiian perfumes. He had recently been there and brought these back as souvenirs. I remember their smelling so good, but I don't recall the scents. What scents...

    Electric pepper grinder

I'm lazy. I've also been cooking more of late. I am so tired of turning our pepper grinder over and over and over again that I'm considering buying one of the grinders that do it automatically. What is the most reasonable kind to purchase? I do have kitchen space issues.

    Milk is a carb

I've been trying to count carbohydrates lately as I'm trying to limit the amount of sugar in my diet. I had totally been forgetting to count the milk. Of course, it's a carb! It has lactose in it, which is definitely a sugar, and therefore a carb. This was totally a duh moment for me.

    Going to a nutritionist

I finally did something I've been wanting to do all my life. I'm going to sit down with a nutritionist-dietitian tomorrow morning and examine what I'm eating with a fine tooth comb. I know there are so many areas where I can improve. The older I get, the more health-conscious I become. Has...

    Florals or fruits?

This is a hard one. If you could choose one scent to be left with out of all Nature's gifts, what would it be? I love the smell of vanilla, cucumber and gardenia. Orange and lemon are favorites, too. My choice would have to be vanilla, though giving up lemon in the kitchen would be difficult.

    Best citronella candles

Which citronella candles work best for keeping off the mosquitoes? My husband is working outside in the afternoons, and the bugs are really bothering him. I bought a Cutter citronella candle to place near him, but I'm wondering if any of the others work better? Any thoughts?

    Cabbage Collards

I have never heard of anything called cabbage collards, but our local farmer's market was selling them this week. I bought a bag full, and now I'm trying to figure out how to cook them. I think I'm going to add a small ham bone and just boil them with salt and pepper. Wish me luck.

    Best blender for smoothies

I'm planning to start making healthy smoothies that include vegetables and greens to eat on a daily basis. The only blender or food processor I have had are those inexpensive ones from Walmart. I'm ready to invest in a good one. What are other's favorites for breaking down fruits and vegetables?

    Quick meals for out-of-town guests

We're having company in town for a few days later in the month. I want to have some easy-to-prepare meals on hand that are tasty and nutritious just in case we all gather with friends and hang out here. What are some scrumptious things I can have on hand? Right now I've only come up with...

Freshening up the house for guests

We are having a lot of guests in town for a wedding, so I am trying to get the house freshened up during the month before. I know we are immune to any smells in our home. What are some good ways to make sure our home smells clean that we can implement over the next few weeks? I'm deep cleaning...

    January ideal time to detox

January is an ideal time to reset the body and get rid of toxins built up over the holidays. Reset your diet by eating lots of whole, organic and fresh unprocessed food. Flush the kidneys and lymphatic system with Ph-balanced spring water flavored with cranberry juice or lemon. Relax and...

    Supplies for soap making

Where do you find your supplies for making fine soaps? Do you know of any good online sites? Or are you able to source what you need locally? This would make a great hobby for my niece.

    Shingles

My father has passed away now, but years ago he had an awful case of shingles that almost drove him mad. No doctor was able to help him until he went to an acupuncturist. I always thought that type of medicine bordered on quackery until it worked for my dad. We have a friend with shingles now...

    Expiration dates on seed kits

While unpacking last year's Christmas decorations, I came across one of those Chia-type herb gardens with clay pots, soil and seed kits for about half a dozen herbs. I forgot to plant it and it got packed away. It's been stored in a cold/hot attic for a year. Is there any hope of its being...

    Lemon-scented sugar scrub

One of the homemade gifts I received this Christmas is a jar of lemon-scented sugar scrub. I don't know anything about sugar scrubs. Do you rub it on as with any regular scrub? I know it will smell divine.
