Agh, the fighting!

Has anyone else ever noticed that the kids get insane in the days leading up to a holiday? I expect it for Christmas, but I never remember until it is too late on other holidays. And, of course, the day before is when you are doing all your last minute prep!

Anyone want to come over and take my kids to the park so I can cook in peace?

Ha! I have noticed it. I also think that we are more on edge too and our tempers are already flaring a bit from the stress that we are under. That doesn't help matters much when it comes to kids being silly.

Could you include them in the preparations? You didn't say how old they were but even the simplest tasks would make them feel a part rather than vying for your attention. I used to send mine outside for a sprig of holly or pine to decorate the table with. I'd have them wrap the napkin around the silverware. Just the little things may help.
