Breast cancer gene

Have you been tested to see if you carry the breast cancer gene? I haven't, as there is no history of breast cancer in my family at all, but a few of my friends are considering getting tested. I'm just curious as to how they do this and what would you do if you were told you have the gene?

No, I haven't either. My family doesn't have a history of breast cancer, but three of us have actually had lumps on our breast removed. In fact, around two years ago, I went through a lumpectomy to remove a fibroadenoma. Fortunately, it was benign.
