If you feel like you are losing control of your emotions, that they are starting to control you instead, you may wonder why it is that you can’t stop feeling this way. Anger, anxiety, fear, and stress can start to spiral out of control. Why can’t you just take control? The fact of the matter is, you can. It can become difficult to even imagine what it would be like to be more peaceful, but it is certainly possible.
Self hypnosis is easier than you might think. The fact of the matter is, we actually hypnotize ourselves to a certain extent every day. Advertisements are also a form of subtle hypnosis, and the feeling of passive receptivity that overwhelms us while we are watching television or a movie is another example.
Have you ever noticed that when you watch a movie, it pulls you in and makes you feel the way that the director intended? It is surprisingly easy for your emotions to be influenced. Think about how much a simple thirty second commercial about a sunny beach can actually make you feel as though you are relaxed on that beach for a short period of time. The fact of the matter is, it really is that easy to control your own emotions. The only thing that has to be done is to shift to location of the emotional stimuli from outside of your head to inside your head.
The primary cause of stress and anger is a loss of contract with the present moment. Whenever we are experiencing negative emotions, it is very rarely related what is actually happening around us at that moment. In most cases, it has much more to do with something that once happened to us in the past, or things that we are worried are going to happen in the future. A big part of self hypnosis is simply reconnecting with the present moment.
In order to do this, one simply needs to find a quiet place, take deep, slow breaths, and think or say positive things to yourself. By doing this, you can replace negative emotions and thought processes with positive ones.
In order for the process to work, it is necessary to free your mind of clutter. This is one of the primary purposes of repeating a mantra over and over. By focusing on that particular phrase, the rest of the things that we may be thinking about begin to fade into the background, and they are no longer a concern.
Once you are in a state of deep relaxation, it becomes possible to send a message to your subconscious mind. It is only when you have reached this state of relaxation that your mind is open enough for the message to be relayed without the risk of it being rejected by the conscious mind.
Repetition is important, not only within a particular self hypnosis session, but in the sense that self hypnosis should be repeated over and over. In order to reach its maximum effectiveness, it should become a part of your daily routine. If this is not possible, it should at least become something that you do on a regular basis. In this way, you can change the way that you approach issues, and the way that you react in certain situations. Best of all, you can become more peaceful and in control of your own emotions.
