Tomato pot

I started a tomato plant in a standard house plant sized pot. It has grown so quickly, I think I need to get a bigger pot already. How big a pot do you suppose I need for just one tomato plant?

We have a large tote as our tomato pot and it has two plants in it, although we could probably squeeze another one in there. I'd definitely get a large pot for your single plant.

My mom had one tomato plant in a half bushel bucket last summer and it lasted all season. However, it required about 2 gallons of water a day. One in the morning and one in the evening. This doesn't lend itself to going away for the weekend. You'd come back to a dead tomato plant.

We put a plant in a ten gallon bucket and it was just fine. You want to be sure that the roots have enough room to grow. We watered ours every night too.

Okay, thanks you guys. This is very helpful. I will have to do that this week. The plant is starting to spread out more than up now. I can't wait to have tomatoes!
