Indoor Winter Gardening

Does anyone garden indoors during the winter? I'm not talking greenhouse, but in a normal house. I would love to grow some herbs and such during the cold winter. Is this possible?

I grow herbs on my kitchen window sill. It is a south facing window and get just enough light in the winter months. It does help to fertilize your herbs, just don't over do it. Having them in containers with good drainage is also important. I have chives, basil, oregano, thyme and french tarragone right now.

I also grow herbs in the house, some of them even in the summer, and they grow really fast and taste great. Right now I have mint, lavender, and basil. I plan to have more of them.

This sound like a novel idea. I've never tried herbs in the house in winter. I'll bet they give you a sense of summer sunshine when you use them in recipes. Thanks for the information.
