Exercise day's off

I know that taking some days off is important to allow your body to rest, but what is a good rule of thumb? Does it depend on the type of work out you are doing? Right now my arms are sore (both upper and lower), my left thigh (but not my right) and my abs hurt. I am guessing the abs are due to the increase in situps but I have never been this "beat up" before. :oops:

Soreness is good when working out. If you are doing something new you will be sore in that area. I never let more than two days pass without getting a workout in. Of course if I am sick or hurt I do let more than two days pass.
