Elderberries are just now becoming ripe in my area and I'm on the hunt for some! I love elderberry jelly but it does take some work. The berries are so small, it takes some work to get them cleaned and separated. Does anyone else like elderberry jelly?
I've never had it. Yesterday I saw a news segment on the health benefits of elderberries (those are probably gone in jam ) but I'm afraid I'd pick something poisonous that only looks like elderberries.
My mother used to make elderberry jelly and my Dad would make elderberry wine from the berries. I found some the other day. I haven't gone back to gather them yet, but I'm going to.
The wine sounds good even though I am not that much of a wine drinker. What else can you do with them? I am not sure if we have them local for us or if they would need to be imported.
