    Cheer up kitty

We're having the same issues chabella. A little female stray wandered in a few weeks ago and our male 2 year old is not happy. She stays indoor and he's indoor/outdoor so he's spending much of his time outdoors right now. I have been loving on him, brushing on him and giving him special food...

Don't get pets if you cannot afford them

We now have our second rescue kitty! This one was dropped off in my neighbor hood, wandered up to my front door and was scared to death. After feeding her for several days and getting her into the house, she is adorable, eats like a horse and of course we are going to keep her. There's no...

    Fermented Foods

I do know that fermented foods make for good laxatives. I prepared some corn for the grill last weekend and didn't know that it had been sitting in the produce stand just a little too long. It tasted great and we ate it all but let me tell you, it was an enlightening experience. :)

    Seaweed

If I'm not mistaken, some Asian restaurants include seaweed in their soups and other recipes. You could make dishes at home that include seaweed. Here's one called Seaweed Deluxe that sounds pretty good.

    Aerial Yoga

Wow! That looks like advanced yoga to me. I sometimes have trouble keeping my balance with my feet on the floor. Let alone, suspended in the air. I applaud the folks that can do this.

    Beef Recall

Here is the article on the recall. Ground beef is the culprit and it may be contaminated with E.Coli. Bad news. I hope no one gets sick.

    Herbs that have bolted

There is a way to keep them from flowering Lyra, but you really have to stay on top of it. That's to go out every day and pinch off the part that's getting ready to bloom. Depending on the herb, I go ahead and harvest the leaves and flowers together.

    Barre toning

I have a Pilates instructor that is absolutely wonderful. She is soft spoken with flowing exercises and you really don't feel like you're doing anything strenuous. However, the next day it's like OMGosh. What have I done? I love it. Hope you aren't too sore this morning.

    Absorbing more iron

I never knew that StarGazer. OJ helps to absorb iron? Good tip. Thanks! I love OJ and will happy to drink some before a meal. The last two times I've tried to give blood, they wouldn't take me because of low iron. Maybe next time.

    Body parts you don't need

What about the appendix? No one has been able to determine what this organ is for. Why do we have it? Is it also left over from our evolution? Yours is an interesting list Chabella. Thanks for sharing.

    Herbs in Pots

Hubby and I are getting ready to downsize and move to a much smaller house. I will miss my herb garden but have high hopes for growing herbs in pots. What are my best options for pot growing? I love the smell of basil but I know it gets very tall. Mint and oregano like to spread so I'm not...

    Ticks

You did the best thing you could do Greenwoman by picking off the ticks and cleaning the area around them. After doing some research, I found this article that suggests using brewer's yeast in the cat's food. I had never hear this before. Interesting!

    Mint Jelly

I will share the recipe Cassia. I actually found it on cooks.com and it sounds very simple to make. I plan to harvest my mint sometime this week and make at least one run of jelly.

    Too Much Rain

My oregano and sage are beginning to die. :( There has been so much rain here this year that the ground is sopping wet. I had a good stand of each herb but not any more. I guess I'll have to start over next year.

    Learned something new

This can also happen with herbs if you let them go to seed. I have a random basil plant in my garden this year. I know this because I planted peppers over the spot this year and right there in the middle is beautiful little basil plant. Surprise!

    skinny potato salad

Many "skinny" recipes substitute yogurt for mayo. I have a great salad dressing recipe that uses Greek yogurt. I've never heard of it in potato salad before. Chabella, please let us know how this tastes. It sounds like a good recipe.

    Tempeh

Saw your post and had to look this up. Tempeh is a soy bean product that can evidently be used in a variety of ways. Wikipedia has a great definition of Tempeh and where it comes from.

What is stopping you from getting in shape?

The only thing stopping me is myself which, I'm sure, is the case for most of us. Any excuse is better than none. However, if I want to be healthy in my later years, I must start and continue a regular exercise regimen. How about you lolli? Are you on a regular exercise program?

    Herb Book

I just picked up the best herb book yesterday at a thrift store. It lists so many herbs, has pictures, tells what they are used for and even gives recipes for using herbs in cooking. It's amazing what you can find in thrift stores. This was a real jewel for me.

    Too much Vitamin B

It's my understanding that if you have too much of something, your body will just flush it. It may be wise to have some blood work done in the near future though. Your sluggishness could be a sign of something else.
