Default Minor Heartburn?

Is there a natural Herb to take for minor heartburn. I seem to be getting that off and on now that I have gotten "older". I don't really want to take any kind of prescription pill. Any suggestions?

Papaya enzymes can make a big difference in heartburn pain. Milk can help to calm the fire. It is surprisingly effective. And raw almonds work very well, also.

Thanks for those tips Naturelady. I'm not to crazy about milk but I do like almonds. I've not tried Papaya before so not sure if I like that or not.

You can also try some dietary changes, such as avoiding junk and fried foods, and eating small meals more frequently. That may help prevent the heartburn in the first place.

We are more prone to heartburn as we age because our organs are not as able to handle what we input as easily as when we were younger. I've read that overeating can sometimes cause heartburn, so it's recommended that we eat smaller amounts of food at one time.

Maybe keep some fennel root or anise root on hand if you don't like the papaya.

Default Heart burn in the night

I woke up last night with the worst case of heart burn. It gets worse and worse over the years. I don't like taking the medications and would love to find a natural remedy. I'm looking forward to reading the forums here to see what else I can try.

Milk does help with heartburn. It also helps if you bite into a pepper that is very hot! I think peppermint or mint is suppose to help, but I am not sure.

I have the worst heartburn since becoming pregnant it is so miserable. I heard that milk actually makes it worse but it doesn't deter me from guzzling it down at night. My grandma told me once that apple cider vinegar helps heartburn but I have yet to try it because I don't think my pregnant stomach would agree with it. I also heard eating yogurt helps heartburn. The only thing I have found to work is to take Zantac.

I experienced heartburn last year and I found out that it's because of gastritis which I got from drinking too much coffee. The doctor told me to stay away from caffeine for a while and have less intake of chocolate and other dairy food. I hope this helps.
