Have a great day
When Natasha Marchand was struggling to conceive, she overhauled her diet, met with fertility specialists and turned to modern reproductive technology — but she believes an ancient Chinese medical practice was key to her pregnancy.
Marchand, 32, and her husband were among the estimated one in six Ontario couples battling infertility. They’d hoped for a “honeymoon” baby, but more than two years after their wedding were still anxiously awaiting their first child.
The couple opted for an intrauterine insemination (IUI), where sperm is washed and injected directly into a woman’s uterus. Given only a 10 per cent chance of success, Marchand — a strong believer in alternative medicine — thought acupuncture might increase her odds.
