Palm Oil

I read that palm oil helps the bar of soap last longer. How does it work? Do you use palm oil for this purpose or do you use something else?

I don't think anything can help my bar soap in ths shower except moving it. They have the holder on the wall right in the path of the shower stream at my place. The shower takes away so much of the soap, I may have to get a sticky holder or something to move it. I don't really know about the palm oil thing.
