Can anyone provide a thorough guide or information on how to grow this plant? I don't think it would be considered an herb though it does have medicinal properties (I use it for insomnia). I acquired 25 seeds a few months ago but so far have had no luck sprouting them. I'm doing so inside as it's still cold out and I would need to grow in pots until the plants are large enough to fend against my dogs.

I've so far tried surface sowing (this means just placing it atop the soil, not burying, right?) and then watering once a day while keeping it in a warm area. Nothing! What am I doing wrong? I do notice the soil is sometimes very dry when I get around to watering it, but I read that this plant does fine in such conditions.
