Homemade shampoo and conditioner?

I just read that you can use baking soda and water to wash your hair, and then condition it with apple cider vinegar (with mother preferred) and water. No weird chemicals like you find in commercial products, which is a good thing, but it seems to simple to work. Anyone every tried these solutions?

I tried that exact method. I wouldn't recommend it, unless your hair is already super oily. It dried my hair out really bad. It's worth a try though, I guess. Your experience may differ from my own.

Vinegar helps in easy brushing of tangled hair and adds most elasticity making hair more manageable. It also adds shine to the hair.
