Flu shots

I broke down and got my first flu shot this week. I was having a check-up, and the nurse asked if I wanted one, so I just went with it. I braced myself for the needle, and I didn't even know when she broke the skin. Shots have come a long way!

I am still getting over a cold and the doctor said no shots until a month from now so he knows 100% that I am in the clear. It has been a rough few months for people getting sick in our area, are other places just as bad? Even our pharmacies are overrun and going out of stock.

A few weeks ago, I planned to get a flu shot, so I went to the nearest clinic in our area. Unfortunately, they didn't accept walk-ins until 2:00 pm. I had another appointment at that time, so I wasn't able to go back for the shot.

This is something that I have never had done before. Does it really help to get a flu shot every year? I know some that swear by them and wouldn't think of skipping a year. What is the best time of year to get one?
