Basil In Canned Tomatoes

I am not sure if this goes in this portion or not, but has anyone ever tried Basil in their canned tomatoes before? This is how I store mine and my husband thinks it is odd that I store and can my tomatoes in this manner, but I find it rather nice as the Basil adds flavors. Does anyone else do this so I can tell him I am not crazy and other people do this as well!

I haven't tried it, but I do use Basil in a lot of dishes. Maybe I should try this. I'm sure the tomatoes will taste a little different.

Basil and tomatoes are a great combination. It makes perfect sense to me. I expected this thread to be about canned tomatoes from a grocery store. I didn't realize you were talking about the tomatoes that you can yourself.

I haven't tried canning basil in my tomatoes before but I have bought them this way from the store. It would be really good to do the homemade canned tomatoes this way, especially if you make your own spagetti sauce from it.
