A childs fever

My mother is good with home remedies, and she told me once, that when a child has a fever, do not give them aspirin, instead try to reduce the fever with cold baths. And I've found that it works most of the time.

Maybe that's okay and works well with some children...but that reminds me of the other end of that remedy...in which some old folks believed in keeping a child warm in order to make them sweat-out the fever.

I definitely wouldn't try the latter and the tepid baths, just wasn't enough for my kids...they always had fever's that raged. Aspirin was the only thing that controlled their fever long enough to give their bodies a chance to get things under control.

A parents biggest concern when their is an out of control fever is convulsions which can happen when fever's are very high.
