    Aromatherapy and Varicose Veins

I don't believe anything applied externally will help prevent more varicose veins from appearing, but you might be able to make it feel better. Just massaging the oils in will like help relieve the pain to a degree.

Why would this herb garden kit be in the toy department?

I found a dome terrarium kit for herbs that I'm thinking of buying. It grows basil, dill, sage, cilantro and parsley from seed. It's a good price and doesn't seem to take up a lot of room. I don't understand why it would be in the toy department, though - any ideas?

    FDA Will Ban Trans Fats

I'm afraid that without a definite time table, there are many companies that will just keep doing what they're doing. A lot of them won't bother to do anything different without some sort of hammer perched over their head to get it done.

    Typhoon Haiyan Survivors...

It is good to hear that the initial death tolls were likely exaggerated, though. I still have three or four people that I know in the Philippines and haven't been able to reach since the storm wreaked its havoc. I know lines are down all over, so we're praying that they are fine and just can't...

    How do you protect yourself?

I don't really worry about protecting myself while at home. We have good stout locks on all the doors and windows. We also have motion sensing lights at strategic points around the house. It would take a pretty brave and determined person to attempt to enter our home.

    High fructose corn syrup

I've signed every petition that I've seen that wants more transparency with modified foods. I would also recommend writing to your state representatives in Congress to let them know how you feel. Let them know that it's an important issue to you and you will be voting accordingly.

Does anyone have an online source for apple cider vinegar?

hppyfngy, no, I've never seen Bragg's as a brand. They may be a regional brand? I'm up in New England. PaloVerde, the mother is all the particles and sediment that is found in apple cider vinegar naturally. The grocery store brands all strain that out and then pasteurize or otherwise process...

Does anyone have an online source for apple cider vinegar?

I've checked what passes for health food stores in my area, but cannot find organic apple cider vinegar with the mother still in it. What you buy on the store shelves at the ordinary grocery store is still good for you, but not nearly as beneficial as vinegar that still contains the mother.

    Essential Oils for Menstrual Cramps

I think any oils would probably do the trick as it's likely the massaging in of the oil that's alleviating the pain. Cramps are in the uterus and nothing rubbed on the skin is going to actually reach the uterus.

    Dieter's Tea

I've never heard of dieter's tea. Is there a brand name to the product or is this a special blend made by your store? I agree with SoftRain, though - definitely sounds unpleasant.

    In-grown nail

Depending on how bad it has in-grown, he may be able to remove it himself after soaking the foot. If he's let it go for some time, it may be safer to have a podiatrist take care of it to ensure that it doesn't get infected or that he doesn't cause further damage.

    pneumonia shots

The pneumonia shot isn't needed for most people. Most people don't get pneumonia very often, if ever, so there's very little benefit to paying for that shot. Plus, there is always risks with any vaccines, so you don't want one unless the benefit to risk ratio is strong.

    Tabata Workout

I've never heard of Tabata, but I have heard a lot of good things about focused intense exercises over typical exercise. I can't image only 4 minutes having very good results, though. That doesn't sound like nearly enough time to make a difference.

    Does oregano have medicinal properties?

Oregano is used in such small amounts when cooking, I doubt that the nutritional part really is significant to a daily diet, though. Perhaps I'll grow some just to add to scented items, instead of medicinals.

Which oils cause the most allergies?

I want to make some soaps for Christmas gifts and if it's successful, then I'll add them to my inventory for craft fairs and the like. I know some essential oils are more likely to trigger allergies than others but which ones are the most common? I want to avoid them for my inventory, I think.

    Berry gardens?

How many of you grow your own berries or have some wild varieties on your property? I'm thinking of trying to set up a corner for this, but I haven't decided which type(s) yet. Many are so good for you, not just in the fruit, but in the medicinal properties found in various parts of the plants.

    High fructose corn syrup

I believe we can thank Monsanto for high fructose corn syrup or so I've been told. I was told that this comes from genetically modified corn. Whether the body treats it like regular sugar or not, I'm not happy with how many GMOs are in our food supply and that the companies aren't required to...

    Removing negative and drama

Back in 2000, removing negative and toxic people from my life was my New Year's resolution. My ONLY resolution and it has done wonders for my life. I renew that vow every year and do everything I can to keep to it as closely as possible.

    Homemade shampoo and conditioner?

I just read that you can use baking soda and water to wash your hair, and then condition it with apple cider vinegar (with mother preferred) and water. No weird chemicals like you find in commercial products, which is a good thing, but it seems to simple to work. Anyone every tried these...

    Iberogast

I would do more research before trying this product. It says on the website, "Extracts of Iberis amara are only contained in the medicine Iberogast". My concern would be why is that the only way to get this extract? Why are others not already using this plant?
