Default Getting outside

They used to think that diseases were passed through "bad air" and it was considered necessary for good health to get plenty of fresh air. People in Scandinavian countries even bundle up their babies and leave them outside for the health benefit.

Do you think there is any truth in this? Do you believe in the benefit of fresh air for good health?

Oh yes, I believe that fresh air contributes to good health. I think everyone has experienced how refreshing it feels to go out and take some fresh air after hours of being stuck in a your stale office.

I think it really depends on where you live! My town has 2 old power plants within a couple miles of each other and so the air quality is not all that great.

Fresh air always lifts my mood, though.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that buildings tend to hold germs in. I would much rather be outside taking fresh air anytime I can than be cooped up inside.

I love being outside in the fresh air. I've been able to fight off a headache caused by being in a stuffy building just by getting some fresh air. But air quality is important. Being outdoors in a polluted atmosphere has been shown to be worse than being indoors.

I hate being cooped up inside all the time. We just got a huge snowstorm yesterday and the temperature dropped dramatically so I won't be getting outside anytime soon.

Air inside enclosed spaces harbor more microorganisms because that kind of air holds moisture. Fresh air holds less moisture and therefore holds less germs.

Yes, the "outside" air depends on where you live. You also have to assess your environment if there are air-polluting stuff around.

Yes and I can actually tell a difference when I am sick. If I'm in the house I tend to cough and sneeze more. If I go outside I hardly sneeze or cough at all!

I think that fresh air is very healthy for you unless you live in an area with very high pollution. We all need fresh air. Fresh air cleans out our lungs, takes all of the stale air out and puts fresh air back in. It is important to get fresh air for so many reasons.

This is true if you live in an area with polluted air, like Los Angeles and other major cities. However, I don't think you have to worry about air if you live in a rural country-side area far away from factories and other sources of pollution. In fact, fresh air is good for you.
