Dos and Don’ts During Self-Hypnosis

Self hypnosis is an excellent way to deal with mental and emotional issues. It is becoming more popular now than ever, and it a great way of dealing with anxiety, stress, and depression. By sending subliminal messages to the subconscious mind in a positive manner, self hypnosis provides a person with the tools that they need to take control of their life and their own thought processes. It allows you to replace negative emotions with positive ones that make you feel at peace.

Another advantage of self hypnosis is the fact that it can be done in the home without the aid of a psychologist or a therapist. In this way you can confront your inner demons without having to unload everything on somebody else, either a friend, or somebody who is only willing to listen because you are paying them.

Still, it is important to realize that self hypnosis will not always lead to life changing results, and that in some cases it won’t have the desired effect. Sometimes, this causes people to become frustrated with the techniques and even to consider the whole thing a lie. It is important to take certain steps in order to ensure that self hypnosis works effectively. If it is not set up properly, it simply will not work. Here are the things that you should and shouldn’t do when you decide to practice self hypnosis.

Start by making sure that you have a good place to practice self hypnosis. In order for the process to work, you need to place yourself in a state of deep relaxation. This can not be accomplished if you can’t find a quiet place that allows you to let go. The best place is quiet, solitary, calm, and peaceful. Soothing music is a big help in some cases. It is also a good idea to do it at a time when there are no distractions, such as in the morning before you start your day or in the evening before you go to sleep.

You mind needs to be free of baggage. In order for the subliminal messages to be received by the subconscious mind, your mind must already be in a state of emptiness. Other thoughts will distract you from the message and it will not take. Any obligations, concerns, and projects need to be set aside so that you can give self hypnosis your full attention.

Breathing is one of the most important aspects of self hypnosis. You must breathe deeply and slowly in order to keep your heart from racing and your blood pressure from staying high. Your entire body must be relaxed, and this is where many people fail in the process. Remember to breathe deeply during the process.

Use music and recordings in order to make the process work. Record your voice and listen to relaxing music. Make sure that you are relaxed when you are recording the self talk as well. It will not do you any good to bark orders at yourself. The affirmations must be delivered in a manner that is relaxing to the mind in order for you to listen to them.

The affirmations must also be tailor made to your needs. They have to deal with your specific issues. It is good to fill your mind with positivity, but if the positive messages you are sending yourself don’t have anything to do with the types of thoughts that cause you to feel negative, they will not resolve your issues. The idea is to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones that make sense for you.

Finally, for it to work it must be repeated. It must become a part of your routine. It will not work if you do it once or twice and expect everything to change. It does not take up a great deal of your time and it is very easy to fit it into your schedule. Your own well being is at stake. Don’t let yourself slip. Keep at it.
