Any method that you use to improve your health or heal wounds, whether they be emotional or physical, has its own set of pros and cons. Unfortunately, there is no way of doing things that is without its own flaws. There is no model that can be said to have all of the answers. That said, self hypnosis is an incredibly powerful tool for anybody who is trying to heal themselves. This is because it allows a person to come to connect with the untapped portions that lie deep within their own minds. When you come into contact with your own subconscious and engage in a dialogue with it, you unlock the great potential that lies within you. This allows you to heal old wounds, regain control of yourself, and feel true acceptance for the first time in your life. Other forms of therapy and healing do not allow a person to reach the point of acceptance with themselves that can be reached through the use of self hypnosis.
The first step in any self hypnosis routine is to find a way to put yourself in to a relaxed state of mind that is both soothing and comfortable. Relaxation is the first step of acceptance in that it is allowing yourself to reach acceptance of your current physical situation, enjoying the sensations of your own body. The more that your body feels that it is relaxed, the easier it is for your subconscious mind to begin to feel relaxed and accepted. This is one of the greatest aspects of self hypnosis. Even if nothing else in the routine works out for you, relaxation in and of itself is a very important skill that not only helps promote mental well being but helps the healing process to continue at a faster rate.
Perhaps the strongest disadvantage of self hypnosis is that it is not a quick fix. You can not use one session of self hypnosis to solve all of the problems that you are attempting to deal with in your daily life, your emotional well being, and your thought processes. It order to truly build up a feeling of acceptance with yourself it is important to make self hypnosis a part of your routine. If you can not practice it daily, at least make it a part of your schedule so that it is practiced regularly. The point is that in order for you to truly feel acceptance for yourself, you must take the time and effort to truly change the way that you think about yourself. Only then can you free up the energy that is being wasted on worry and use it to heal yourself and to accomplish the goals that you have for yourself. This takes time and effort.
It is important to understand that it is possible to learn to relax right away, but the feeling of acceptance itself takes time to cultivate. It might seem like a disadvantage that it takes time, but the reason for this is that in order for any deep rooted changes to take place, time is an absolute necessity. Changes that can cause you to feel better in a very short period of time have the disadvantage of leaving you just as fast as they came. Only processes that take a very long time to develop will take a very long time to leave you. By making self acceptance a part of what makes you who you are, self hypnosis is much more effective than any short term solution.
If you are interested in trying self hypnosis, it is not that difficult to get started. Begin by finding a quiet place that you can relax in without any distractions. Start taking deep, slow breaths and repeat to yourself a mantra that you want to fully believe in, such as self acceptance. With each deep breath say something to yourself that will help you to promote the feeling of a positive outlook on yourself and you life. Continue this process until you feel that you have done enough, and continue to practice this as much as you can.
